Lost Dog Parks of Sydney

These are the off-leash dog parks that used to be ...

Sometimes places cease to be dog parks because of competing interests.  Sometimes an even better dog park becomes available near-by.  Sometimes they cease to be dog parks because some bad people do not pick up after their dogs ...

This is Manly Dam.  It was a trial leash-free, dog-swimming area for six months from 1st July 1998.

Late one Sunday afternoon (6th September 1998) Schultz and Leelou checked out Manly Dam and were joined by a Golden Retriever and a Labrador for water fun - Tess and Jess.

Schultz finally got some real competition for the stick log!  Although not too much because it was too heavy for a Labrador to drag back in!

This is what I wrote when this park featured on the current pages .... This park is currently on trial and ... "now it is up to responsible dog owners and their well-behaved dogs.  Anybody not proud to count themselves into this club, please stay away or you'll mess it up for the rest of us - and you will be caught as the area is regularly patrolled.  Please note that dogs will need to be leashed on the way to and from the dam which is best accessed from the Nyrang Road, Allambie Heights, track.  There's a dog litter bin at the entrance to this track." ...

I heard on the K9 grapevine that it was closed because of faecal pollution in the water so some bad, lazy people did mess it up for the rest of us ...

This is McCarr's Creek Reserve in Pittwater (where Schultz taught Leelou to swim) but there is no need to regret this one because it has been replaced by an even better dog beach just up the road at Rowland Reserve in Bayview ... see Northern Suburbs
