BELOW IS THE THREDBO FESTIVAL DIRECTOR'S
APPRAISAL OF Classically Blue
The combination of traditional acoustic
guitar vocals and bass with violin is the hallmark of Adrian
K., who can also be seen with the Kevin Borich
"Express", and "Roots and Blues" ensemble, and
in Jackie Orszaczky’s ‘Soul Caravan’, leading
his Electric String Quartet.
This is a most polished group. Adrian K.’s alter ego is as Principal Violin
with the Australian Opera & Ballet Orchestra. Award-Winning
Geoff Achison (winner, Memphis
Blues Foundation Performer of the Year 1995; and the Albert King Guitar
Award 1995, USA), of ‘Big Machine’ CD fame, performs brilliantly on vocals
and acoustic guitar. Geoff has just completed his 2nd band album ‘Genevieve’,
and a long awaited solo acoustic live album, ‘Mystery Train’. Very much
in demand Steve Sampson, is a virtuosic tower
of strength on Bass. Less well known about Steve is his underscoring for
children’s television and Education programmes.
The Trio has performed for the Manly Jazz Festival (1995/96/97)
& the Thredbo Blues Festival (1995/96/97/2000) & Jazz Festival(1996).
In the Blues Festivals the trio was voted
as Most Popular Band in 1997, 2nd in 95/96; & in the Thredbo Jazz Festival
was voted 3rd Most Popular Band.
Guest appearence at "Jazz in the
Domain", 2001.
