The 10 Inch Astrograph

Telescopes

About 2 years ago I was given a 10" dobsonian by a good mate who was moving down south with his family. Although I already have a 12" dob, I could not pass this up as it has a very good quality mirror ground by Mark Suchting. The primary and secondary cells and spider are Novak and the rest of it was very typical dobsonian fair, heavy wooden boxes and sono tube.

I decided to rebuild it into an equatorial based imaging platform. With this much known a decision was made to acquire a large gem suitable to carry a 10 inch F6 newtonian, and consequently an order for a Losmandy Titan was made. This took 18 months to arrive, it's a long way to Amerikee. Also a Moonlite electric focuser was obtained because I'm lazy and after jiggling about with the 4 inch I thought it would be nice. In keeping with the imaging theme a new 2.6 inch secondary was installed in a Novak secondary holder, so the spider was re-used. This setup gives a fully illuminated diameter of 28mm, certainly more an enough for the Artemis camera. As the mirror was already glued into the primary cell I did not cut it out just to re-do it.
