ORCHIDS OF ECUADOR
I have been to Ecuador on 7 trips. It is a great place to visit to see
the mountain scenery and orchids in the wild every where.
I feel especially privileged to have seen Phragmepedium bessae in the wild.
The following photos are from my 1996 trip after the World Orchid Conference
in Rio.

I spend most of my time in Ecuador in the highlands. Mostly because the
coast and orient are too hot and humid. In reality the diversity of species
in the highlands between 2000m and 3400m is fascinating and sufficient
to keep my attention.
I keep going Back because each time I see different Orchids. I always visit
Ecuagenera outside Cuenca. Here one can select orchids from a large range
of flowering plants and is well worth a visit.
