Nick Enright and Justin Monjo's adaptation, developed over the past two years and workshopped in three stages by the actors at Conipany B and Perth's Black Swan Theatre is on a scale without parrallel in Australian theatre.
Drawing from the emotional wells of family and place has always been at the core of our rehersal process and I was struck by how deeply the actors, especially those from Perth, connected with Tim's book: it's about their childhood, or their parent's childhood; a simpler, though not necessarily more innocent time. It's an atmosphere captured so well in the novel that you can almost smell and taste it.
In such a short space of time since being published, Cloudstreet has become one of the most loved Australian books. We have taken our epic story down to the the harbour to tell it and we promise an experience that you will never forget.
