Rare & Precious Metals in Cidri
Galvorn is a hard, black iron-based metal that makes weapons of +2 or +3 damage bonus. It's not light, so confers no DX bonus. Dwarves and sometimes gnomes have mined and refined it. It won't be found elsewhere generally, unless stolen.
Mithril, or truesilver, was discovered by dwarves originally but coveted highly by elves, many wars being fought over the ownership of mithril mines. It is light in weight and light in colour, conferring a +1 DX bonus and +1 or +2 damage bonus. Mithril can harm monsters only struck by silver weapons and does not interfere with magic casting, unlike galvorn or adamantite, both of which are ferrous.
Adamantite is another ferrous metal of exceptional hardness (+3 damage). It is a dull, greyish colour. Dwarves and humans most often use it.
Magic Items
Prybar (by David Michael Grouchy & his brother Stephen)
Weapon/armor enchantment may be used to enchant force back (Fb) instead
of damage done. A character struck with a Fb+5 is thrown back a total of
six hexes instead of just one. The normal force back rules apply: the
character must have hit their target, and taken no damage themselves this
turn. If the item enchanted is a shield and the character does a shield
rush, they only need to succeed in the shield rush to get the force back
bonus. Normally a shield rush just knocks the target down. A shield rush
with Fb+5 will knock the target down and force them back five hexes.
If the target is forced back over a cliff or pit they may get a normal
3/DX roll to catch the edge and hang on, as per the normal force
back rules. If the target is knocked 2 hexes away from the
clift/pit edge they get a 4/DX roll, with an extra die added for each hex further they are.
If the enchanted item is a crowbar the forceback bonus also reduces the
number of Dice needed to open a locked/barred door with it. A crowbar
normally requires a save of 3D vs. ST +1D per lock spell on it. So a
crowbar used on a door with five locks on it requires an 8D vs. ST roll.
With a Fb+5 enchanted crowbar this becomes 3D vs. ST.
Enchanting force back can be balanced with DX and damage bonuses in any
combination that does not exceed a total of +5. For instance a mace could
be DX+1, dmg+2, Fb+2. Or any other combination that does not exceed +5.
