TRAINING
It is important that people who wish to train with the Bujinkan comply with the Guidelines of Participation. Take time to read through it thoroughly. Shihan and Shidoshi-Kai do request information on backgrounds as a requirement to train, as well as to grade.
Next step is to find a dojo and qualified instructor in your area. Make sure that whoever you train with is a Shidoshi kai. There are no accredited sole Shidoshi-Ho dojos recognised any more, instructors are now required to be a licensed instructor, 5th Dan (degree black belt) and above. Shidoshi-Ho is a junior instructor (1st Dan-4th Dan)that is allowed to teach under the supervision of a Shidoshi-Kai. Another important aspect is that the instructors should travel to Japan on a regular basis, or be affiliated with instructors that do. This is to ensure that the training is true and current to Soke's teaching.
The Bujinkan Sydney Metro Dojos are a group of dojos around the Sydney Metropolitan area supported and instructed By Japan trained Shihan and Shidoshi-Kai. Having the Australian instructors that have trained with Soke, Nagato sensei and other Japanese Shihan the longest in NSW and along the east coast of Australia have asserted the quality of teaching and have genuinely raised the awareness of Bujinkan in Australia.
In addition, The Sydney Dojos also offer the opportunity for students to take training journeys to Japan to train with Soke and other Japanese Shihan.
Dojos operate with different fees, however $10-20 per class is to be expected. Be aware you may be required to travel for good instructors. The best won't try any esoteric sell points, and will be honest, friendly and straight with you. Dojos have different payment options where it is possible to pay in advance, monthly or weekly.
Usually one to two free classes are given as an introduction to training before deciding to come on a regular basis.
