Pyrton is a small village about 25 km. SE of Oxford - it's name was derived from 'Pear Tree Farm'. On a recent visit I could find no reference to family names in St.Mary's Church records, nor any readable gravestones. The families may have resided only within the 'strip' parish (about 12 miles long), rather than the village itself?
It is predominantly a farming area.
