THOMSON William
(+ JONES Mary)
THOMSON James
- THOMSON Alexander / ? Elizabeth
OAKLEY Mary-Ann
- OAKLEY James / EDGE Mary
The 1851 census shows Alexander was born in Edinburgh.
It also shows daughter Mary born in Washington, so
he may have spent a little time in the Sunderland area
before moving to Market Drayton. However, Mary was
baptised in Market Drayton in 1813. Elizabeth's origins
are also unclear - the 1841 census indicates she was
not born in Shropshire, yet the 1851 census shows
her birthplace as Market Drayton.
James Oakley was born in Sedgley, but lived in Walsall
after his marriage - Mary Ann was born there.
Bloxwich, where Mary Edge was born, lies just a little
north of Walsall. Mary and James Oakley were married
at Handsworth, just a little NW of Birmingham.
In 1851 James Thomson and Mary-Ann were living in
St.Peters Square, Wolverhampton. They were married
in Dudley, but later lived in Wolverhampton, where
all their children were born.
From 1861 to 1881 Mary-Ann was living in Salop St.
After his marriage to Mary Jones, William continued
to live in Wolverhampton, at a number of locations
a little out from the city centre (Franchise St,
Cross St and others).
