John's ancestry was determined from an 1871 entry for John Yates Coverdale, son of Elizabeth Ann.
He was living with Joseph & Ann Stanton and recorded as their 'nephew' - Ann (Yates) was from Tutbury and the sister of John Yates,
so John Yates Coverdale was actually Joseph & Ann's great-nephew.
John married Sarah in Warsop, Nottinghamshire. Their daughter Elizabeth's marriage certificate (1850) shows John's occupation was a porter and spirit merchant/grocer. By 1851 Sarah & the children had moved to Cottingham - interestingly, Sarah was then shown as being married rather than widowed, but John's whereabouts are not known.
