Thomas Edward POULTON / Ann PRICE
(1823-1856)                                      (1816-1867)
Thomas was born in Eastcourt, Wiltshire, and Ann in Wickwar, Gloucs, where they married in 1840. Neither of their fathers were named on their marriage certificate which suggests they were unable or unwilling to provide this information. Thomas was a minor, thereby requiring parental permission to marry, and one would think Ann's parents would have been known to the people of Wickwar.
An Ann Price was born (to Samuel & Charlotte) in nearby Uley in 1816, but could Ann be the illegitimate daughter born to Eleanor Price in Wickwar in 1814? And maybe Thomas was the son of Ann baptised in Crudwell (very close to Eastcourt) in 1821. These options would possibly explain why their fathers are were not named.
Thomas and Ann emigrated to Australia on the 'Omega' with their five eldest children, arriving at Adelaide in August 1852. They started farming at Owen, about 60 miles north.
