William was born in Cherry Gardens, Adelaide, and Alice at Linton, near Ballarat, Victoria.
William and his brother Owen obtained selections at Goschen, near Swan Hill, in the early 90's. He and other pioneers erected the methodist church at Goschen. He and Alice moved to Swan Hill in 1921. He was a J.P.,
a member of the agricultural society, and a school committee member. They moved to Bendigo in 1928.
