Thomas was born at Burton on Trent England. He arrived at Sydney, NSW, in 1859 (aged 20) on the 'Parsee'.
An immigration deposit (sponsorship) had been made by his brother Charles, who emigrated to Australia in 1857.
Elizabeth was possibly born in Collingwood, Melbourne. However, unlike her siblings Amelia and James whose births are registered with Victorian BMD (other siblings born in UK) her
details cannot be found .. a mystery ? Note there is an Adelaide birth entry for an Elizabeth Norman in 1848 - parents Robert Norman/Mary (the same names as Elizabeth's mother's
parents .. a coincidence ??).
Thomas and Elizabeth married at Linton, near Ballarat. Elizabeth used different names for both herself and her parents on various documents. Their marriage certificate
gives Elizabeth's (Elizabeth Norman) parents as George Norman and Sarah Mullet, but Thomas' death certificates give Elizabeth's maiden name as Dempsey and Elizabeth's death
certificate shows her parents as Norman and Sarah Dempsey - her mother Sarah Norman had married a John Dempsey in 1860. They lived at Skipton/Linton, but after Elizabeth died
Thomas (a farmer) moved up to the Swan Hill area.
Sarah was born at Skipton, near Ballarat,
