Ancestral Lineage of Sarah Penrose MITCHELL

William Mitchell was born in Cubert, Cornwall. He married Mary Glasson in 1831 – she died between 1851 & 1861 and he remarried. He ran a farm of over 100 acres and employed a number of workers.
Philip Mitchell and Maria Ellen Penrose married at Truro, Cornwall, in 1853. The Penrose family were from Redruth, Cornwall. Phillip and Maria emigrated (separately) in the mid-1850s - they raised their family in the Creswick area of Victoria (near Ballarat) – Philip was a farmer.

Nathaniel Williams (Snr) and Susannah Quick sailed to Australia on the ‘Euphemus’, arriving in Geelong in 1853 with most of their family, including Nathaniel Jnr. & his wife Susan (Luke). In Cornwall, Nathaniel Snr. was a stone mason – after arriving in Victoria he began farming at Dean (near Ballarat), as did his son Nathaniel Jnr.

The marriage between Paul Mitchell and Betsy Quick wasn’t the only link between the two families. Paul’s youngest sister, Hannah Penrose, married Betsy’s brother James Daniel.

The Tredinnick family was from St.Agnes, whereas the other families were all from St.Ives, as shown on the map below.
