Ancestral Lineage of Thomas Day HOLLAND

Joseph Holland was born in Pyrton, Oxfordshire, and was a labourer. Sarah Giffen, from Winkfield, Berkshire, was a timber dealer. James & Hannah sailed from Plymouth on 15 July 1854 on board the ‘Lord Raglan’ – they arrived in Port Adelaide on 24 Oct.1854.
James was a farmer & Hannah a lace maker.
William and his brother Owen obtained selections at Goschen, near Swan Hill in the early ‘90s.
He and Alice (Forester) moved to Swan Hill in 1921. They moved to Bendigo in 1928.

Pyrton is a small village about 25 km. SE of Oxford - it's name was derived from 'Pear Tree Farm' - the photo shows St.Mary's church.
Thomas Day, also from Pyrton, was a gamekeeper/woodman.
Joseph Holland's brother John (married Lydia Shepperd) had several children who also emigrated to Australia after marrying into the Frewin family (Frederick Holland m. Ann Frewin; Eliza Holland m. William Frewin).

John Forester and Mary Prime were both from Staffordshire - both of their sons (Charles and Thomas) emigrated to Australia, though separately.

James Stokes and Sarah Norman were both born in Hawkchurch, Dorset. They emigrated in 1844 with 6 children - Elizabeth was born a few years later in Melbourne.
Marriage and birth certificates give conflicting information about family names. For example, on her marriage certificate Elizabeth's surname is given as Norman rather than Stokes. And Thomas' mother's name is given as Mary Prime, whereas on the marriage certificate of his brother Charles (to Ann Maria Beckham) it is Mary Bruce.
