I write because I have to. I honestly don't know where the inspiration for some of these poems come from. Others, I know only too well.
Lizards Simply the muses playing. "Lizards" was one of my first real attempts at writing. But I like it for it's imagery & because I need to remember how far I have to go.
Tessa A Highlander piece.
Jeanette - Sunwashed A Forever Knight piece. Both "Tessa" & "Jeanette" were written in response to characters of fiction. Both are strong women. Both have made & live with difficult decisions in their lives. They don't look back. They live (within their respective worlds), in the now. I admire that & on some level responded to it in these poems.
Brett Whitely - Portrait by Graeme McCarter Inspired by a photo of Brett Whitely by Graeme McCarter. "Brett Whitely" as a poem came to me almost complete. I have only changed one line since I first wrote it down.
Dead & Gone A dark insight. "Dead & Gone" is a personal piece. Dark & sombre. 'Nuff said.
Descent A due South poem. "Descent" is a poem inspired by Due South. DS's plots are a mixture of humour & drama. They never really let go of the dark side when they arefunny and their dark moments are never far from humour. Much like real life. "Descent" is a Ray poem. It is his grief and loss and how he would deal with them that inspired it. The poem has had an active life, in that it has been edited a number of times. I do not believe that process is yet at an end. My thanks to Mary Webber who always gives freely to me of her precious time, encouragement, inspiration and most importantly, her friendship. And also to Ellen Parry for her time, her friendship and her clear, objective thought processes.
