ok... so you want to find out about me...

this section is as yet unfinnished, but untill i get it up and running this will have to do.

this is an essay i wrote while applying for a student exchange...... (i got the exchange, and i'm going to norway next year)

I was born on the 29th of October, 1981 in Melbourne, Australia. In early January 1982, my family moved to a school camp near Bendigo, where my father, Rob , had recently begun to work as an outdoor education teacher and caretaker of the camp.

When I was two years old, my parents had another child, a girl named Jeni. I remember being really excited to have a sister.

From an early age I was very interested in Lego, and was given a lot of it for birthdays and Christmases. I particularly liked both train and science fiction sets, which I would build and remodel into many different objects.

A few years ago however, I was introduced to a board game called Heroquest, which was based on a tabletop strategy game called Warhammer. I then became extremely interested in this style of gaming. I now play numerous games of this genre.

Along with strategy gaming, I have become an avid player of role-play games, or RPG's. In these games I take on the role of a fictional character in a vivid fantasy world. I enjoy both strategy and role-play games because whilst playing them I am able to challenge myself mentally, trying to either think of strategies, or maintain a character who is nothing but a set of statistics and a background which I have thought up.

I have also begun to play RPG's on our computer. These take the form of either commercially produced games such as Diablo, or a type of Internet program called a MUD, (or Multi-User Dungeon). MUD's are text based interactive worlds, where the player role-plays much like a conventional role-play game. I find these types of games entertaining both because of the imagination needed to play them, and because many people play on the same game at one time making it a very social experience.

Another of my major interests is hiking. I was first taken camping when I was seven weeks old. Since then my family has regularly gone on camping holidays throughout the Australian wilderness. In year nine I began hiking with a school club, and have been on numerous trips which lasted between a couple of days and two weeks.

One of the highlights of my life was a term long trip that my family and I took overseas. We traveled to Hong Kong, China, England, Austria, Switzerland, Singapore, and spent a month in Italy with my father's relatives.

I would like to go on this exchange because I am interested in expanding my view of the world, and meeting people from other countries face to face. I hope also to discover what it is like to live in a different society, different climate, and different culture.

well thats all i've got for you at the moment...

pretty soon i hope to get a photo of myself on here...

in a couple of days maybe...
