Touring has
become the third major drawcard for new and potential band members
of BBB. Each of the
three successful completed band tours,
represents an enormous personal and financial commitment by all
touring members and their families as BBB tours are entirely self-funded.
In
January 1996, Benjamin's Big Band Concert Band undertook a three-week tour to Canada and
the USA West Coast. The band of 45 gave
highly acclaimed performances in Vancouver at the Centennial Theatre and Lonsdale Quay; in
Olympia, Washington in the State Legislature Building; in San Francisco at a high school
and Pier 39; in Los Angeles on the Main Stage at Disneyland (on Australia Day) and Glen
Wilson High School, at Sea World in San Diego and Mt Miguel High School; and at the MGM
Grand Theme Park in Las Vegas. The Concert
Band gave dynamic, high-energy performances to enthusiastic audiences all the way down the
West Coast.
In
July 1999, the 35-piece Benjamin's Big Band Jazz Orchestra undertook a 31 day tour to
Europe, giving a series of exciting performances at leading jazz festivals and clubs: in
London at Greenwich Park and the Bulls Head at Barnes; in Paris at Disneyland Paris; in
Brussels at the 'Brosella Jazz & Blues Festival' in the Marche au Poissons; in Holland
at Efterling Theme Park; in Heidelberg at the Red Oxen Café; at the 'Montreux Meets
Brienz Jazz Festival' in Switzerland; at 'Jazz a Juan Festival' at Juan les Pins on the
French Riviera; in Italy in the 16th
Century State Assembly building in Perugia and at the 'Atina Jazz Festival'. This was undoubtedly the most extensive European
tour ever undertaken by an Australian youth jazz band and the group gave exciting concerts
to large appreciative audiences at all venues. The 2003 overseas tour that Benjamin's Jazz Orchestra has undertaken, is a three-week tour of a number of the main Canadian Jazz Festivals in June/July 2003. Beginning in Vancouver, B.C. and traveling across to Toronto, across to Monteral and Quebec City. Then down to New York, across to Boston and finally returning to Canada via Niagara Falls. Performances at the 'International Festival de Jazz de Montreal' at the beginning of July were also seen. This festival is the largest and most prestigious festival of the Northern American summer with over 450 public performances.Contact Information Send electronic mail to webmaster@benjaminsbigband.com with
