I’m modelling the mid ‘80s set in
eastern Canada in HO scale. I had built a layout (Plywood Central) and I needed
specific rolling stock to service the modelled industries. Unfortunately there
are only few commercial models available that would match any modern Canadian
freightcar. I had built a few diesel modells from
styrene, but when it came to building freightcars, I didn’t feel like scratch
building each car individually. Years ago on a Railway
Prototype Modellers meet in Toronto, I saw Jay Rotch give a clinic on how to
make casting using RTV and Urethane. This got me started to try a few things on
my own and my first resin kits were of a couple of gondolas.
