Waaay back, back into time
This is a fun site, in a nerdy geeky sort of way. The Internet Archive is like a time machine for the web. You can enter any website address that you want, and it then gives you the option of checking out what that website looked like on any given date in the past. Try searching for some of the big ISP sites, or major corporations. It can be hilarious. And you can always check out your own previous web efforts, you know, all those websites you designed in your spare time and had tried to forget. The Internet Archive is also trying to create a collection of historical films and images, which are very cool to browse. Have a nice day! TODAY on apb - Thursday,December 05,2002
Just the faqs man
Anybody who has spent any amount of time on the internet has heard of FAQ's - Frequently Asked Question lists. These are those collections of most commonly asked questions received by newsgroups, websites and mail lists. The range of topics is endless, and you can look up these great knowledge sources at The FAQ Consortium. It is surprising how much useful information you can get just by browsing the FAQ's. Remember that any question you can think of, has probably been thought of by somebody else! TODAY on apb - Wednesday,December 04,2002
The truth is out there?
Okay, just to remind everyone, this site is now accessible through my new URL, www.andysbreakfast.com. Check it out - oh, you already are! Today's featured site is the place I go when I receive yet another one of those emails warning me about a "new virus that will destroy my computer, format my hard drive, crash my car and steal my wife...." It's Rob Rosenbergers' Vmyths.com, and it is well worth checking out. Rob's essays and articles are great, and the site lists every virus hoax and myth out there. It's an interesting read. What's the weather
Here's one for those of us in the southern hemisphere. It might seem boring, but I have been looking for a decent weather site for ages. Not something as complicated and indepth as the Bureau of Meteorology, but still enough to tell me whether to put a jacket on or not. A useful site is EBroadcast Weather. A nice touch is that when you go to the forecast page, it manages to work out that you usually want the weather for tomorrow, not what is was like today. I mean, I know what the weather was like today, guys! TODAY on apb - Monday,December 02,2002
Isn't it ironic?
No, Alanis, it isn't ironic, it's just coincidence... Sorry, private joke. Anyway, I always look forward to the email that tells me there is a new issue of The Ironic Times online. It's sharp and funny, and always sarcastic. In a good way, of course. These guys really know how to make you laugh, as they get stuck into everything from George Dubbya to Christmas shopping. Check it out, and find out what the news really should be! TODAY on apb - Sunday,December 01,2002
Making the Band
Ever wanted to create your own band? Well, this site lets you! Even if it is only dodgy animated dudes and sound loops... But who cares, it's cool and silly, and that's good enough for me. Createbands.com uses the Flash plugin, but does appear to work fine in Opera, which isn't always the case with sites like this. After creating your band, you can arrange them on stage, change the volume of each instrument, and basically waste plenty of time. Yeah...
