The Track By Track Low-Down
I was hoping that the
Tape of the Acoustic Demented Ravings Album Launch Set would
be good enough for release, and low and behold it was! For the
low down on the performance that the live set came from click
here. But here is the Track synopsis of the Special Edition Release
and the bonus tracks that follow the live performance to pad
this CD out a bit!
1. Master Roadie Simone
Setting the levels and letting the audience know what a wonderful
roadie and sound gal Simone was on this night. Yep, that means
that the first cheer of the gig was for the crew not the band!
2. Coffee Blues
The most obvious track from Ravings for an acoustic treatment.
A nice mood setter for the evening.
3. Never Met An Angel
This is tons of fun to play acoustic. Fun, aggressive, and we
give it a good run on this night.
4. Empty Room
My worrisome song from Ravings is given a very nice treatment
here. Became a popular song from the night, and one of the ones
that people remembered.
5. The Commercial Part Of The Evening
I try and sell my wares. We sold quite a bit this night too!
6. The Pancho Gonzales Song
For those who said it could not be done - here is Pancho acoustic.
Fun, and look out for my one liner that catches Belinda off guard
and brings a cheer!
7. Acquire Acquire
More in between song patter about buying things.
8. My Baby
My favourite song from the evening's set is the closer. A scorching
version of My Baby, and it left the night's performance on a
high.
BONUS TRACKS (non-live)
9. Jimi (I.Robertson/S.Foster)
A four track drum machine version of a song that my old high
school band was known for. I like this song...nice and raw!
10. Dirty Mama
More tongue in cheek white boy blues, but much much sleazier
than Coffee Blues!
11. In The Hall Of The Mountain King (Grieg)
My rock arrangement of this classic piece as performed for my
High School Certificate Music course.
12. Dance Club
Joking around with Doo-Wop.
13. Get It To Move Me
I was quoted as saying Dance Music could be written and knocked
out in only two or three hours and was dared to try it by a friend.
This is the track that came out of that dare.
14. I Like It A Lot
The most recent track here, written and recorded in the year
2000. About the relationship I have with a great friend, but
we tend to bring out the worst in each other when we are together!
15. Oppression (I.Robertson/S.Foster)
Another old song from my High School rock band days, written
with the old lead singer. Not a bad little song, but for some
reason we never performed it.
16. Longing
An instrumental guitar riff that I could never quite fit into
a song...so I recorded anyway!
17. Indulgence
Me saying "ta very much!" to everyone who likes my
stuff!
I am not going to pretend
that this Special Edition release is anything more than the release
of further skeletons from the closet, but the Live performance
I think is quite nice, and I had such nice reactions to the changes
the acoustic versions brought to those songs. Add to that the
fact that my archives had more of the 4-Track material itching
to be unleashed, and that there were some vocal fans asking for
more recorded matter to chew over before the release of the next
album.
Why call this a Special
Edition? Well, you won't get this in the shops on order. ChaosMusic
and Agnes Records will be the only places you can purchase this,
and it will be "burnt to order." Yes, it is a CD-R
release...using Kodak Gold Ultima Media for those who need to
know those things. But don't worry...it is fully mastered by
the wonderful Bruce Sheldrick at Digital CD Mastering as was
the first album, and it has some nice professionally printed
covers as well. So it is better than your average CD-R based
release! And...they will ALL BE SIGNED BY ME!!!! (Stop wetting
yourself!)
All in all...I am happy
to give you all this offering!
Slainte!
