Both the FS-60CB and FS-60Q Fluorite, Quad Modular
refractors have no rivals when it comes to sharpness, colour
correction, and contrast! The FS-60CB and FS-60Q produce
razor-sharp images, which are very bright, despite their
small aperture. There really isn't anything like them on
today's astronomy market! Furthermore, these little
refractors are also great wide-field astrographs. Your first
view through one of these telescopes will show you amazingly
high-contrast images of stars over thefull field of view,
where stars are seen as very fine points of light.
Takahashi designed the FS-60CB to be an ultra portable high
quality small apochromat. The design has its hard
multi-coated fluorite objective up front with a low
dispersion hard multicoated rear element
This compact short focus [f/5.9 - 355mm] APO refractor is
the perfect eclipse telescope and with its triplet reducer
[f/4.2 - 255mm] is a great little astro camera or spotting
scope.
When combined with the focal reducer, the FS-60C becomes a
great 35mm format imaging tool. The image circle of this
over-achiever is larger than a 35mm film frame, insuring
proper illumination of the entire field.
The FS-60C is also versatile in the other direction: a
doubler is available that turns it into a 710mm f/11.8 scope
that is excellent for high-power viewing up to about 200x,
depending on the seeing conditions. This makes it suitable
for planetary observing in average conditions; you'll want a
bigger aperture for planetary observing on nights of
excellent seeing.
If you are not already familiar with the Takahashi 6x30
finder, you will find it to be a rather marvellous little
finder. Despite the small aperture, this finder features
typical Takahashi quality of design and manufacturing, and
is a surprisingly capable performer. It offers a wide-field
view and absolutely clear and sharp stars. It's also an
excellent finder for terrestrial use because it is bright
and colors are true.
The Takahashi FS-60C apochromatic refractor is the itinerant
telescope par excellence. It features exceptional optical
and mechanical qualities (objective with Fluorite doublet)
and an incredible compact design.

Its first quality comes from its apochromatic objective with
Fluorite doublet of 60mm of aperture, as good as refractors
with higher diameter. The FS-60 will astonish more than one
purist. When one knows what one can obtain from an excellent
short focal length optic (F=355mm, F/D 5,9) in imaging, we
immediately understand all the advantage of this small
compact and transportable telescope.
Exceptional mechanics
Excellent Takahashi mechanics propels the FS-60C at the top
of the refractors of this category. Its tightened
rack-and-pinion focuser is designed for astrophotography and
CCD imaging. A thumb screw maintains the focuser in
position.
Versatility and performances
Light and compact, the FS-60C can be easily change into
planetary telescope or wide field CCD imager or auxiliary
instrument for guiding, and this, thanks to a vast range of
accessories.
Its great versatility will charm all the observers. It can
easily be used for the visual observation, as well as
astronomical or terrestrial. |
