HLOSS
Heat Loss from Bare or Insulated Pipes

The computer program HLOSS is a simple DOS program owned and developed by ACADS-BSG. It is used for calculating the heat loss from or heat gain to bare or insulated pipes.

FEATURES

  • The program is fully interactive with all input items entered directly on screen.
  • The program only caters for straight lengths of pipe and does not include for heat loss/gain from fittings such as bends, valves, etc.
  • Internal diameters for pipes are stored in a file accessed by the program such that the user only needs to enter the pipe material and nominal pipe size.
  • The program comes with a range of pipe materials including steel, copper and UPVC to Australia Standards already entered in this file. Pipe diameters for other pipe materials can easily be entered by editing this file.
  • The user can optionally enter an internal pipe diameter directly.
  • Help panels are available for most items giving a more detailed description of the selected item and a range of typical values for various fluids. These help panels are stored in a file that can be edited or added to by the user.
  • The program calculates the heat loss or gain for a single pipe size or all pipe sizes for the pipe material selected.
