Day 7 - 26 Jan 2007

On Day 7 we explored up another tributary of this beautiful creek that we had been in. This ended in a huge amphitheatre surrounded by cliffs. We retraced our steps back downstream and exited the creek system. Then we walked out to the starting point of the trip and returned home. Here are the photos from the last day of canyon exploration. It was a fantastic week of exploration.

By now we had no bread left so each morning we made ourselves a damper for lunch. This is an excellent bread substitute on long trips and easy to make on the camp fire.

The tributary that we explored on the last day ended in a huge amphitheatre.

Here is the same amphitheatre from a bit further back.

We retraced our steps back down this tributary which included some canyon.

Here is the most impressive part of the canyon. It looks very dramatic from the top. However, we had actually climbed up here only an hour or so earlier so we knew the drop was only about 3 metres.

Further downstream the tributary is a verdant shallow canyon.
