RADIO COMMUNICATIONS SITE AT MOUNT MACEDON A privately owned communications site has recently been commissioned at Mount Macedon giving access to this prime location which has previously been difficult to obtain. The site is located 800 metres above sea level on the southern face of Mount Macedon. The view from the tower covers all of Melbourne, Port Phillip Bay and extends in the west to the outskirts of Ballarat. A series of maps are attached which show the extent of coverage on the most frequently used mobile communications bands VHF 160 MHz, UHF 460 MHz, UHF 900 MHz. Note that the map is terminated at a range of 140 Km , The actual performance will exceed this in some cases. If more coverage details are required in a particular geographical area or in a different frequency band please do not hesitate to contact us for a coverage map to cover your area of interest. Microwave path profiles can also be given, simply supply us with your system details and required location. Rental rates for the site are very reasonable and can be supplied on application. Note that special low rates can be negotiated for large system users. Site facilities include a 35 metre self supporting tower with antennas already in place to cover the commercial VHF and UHF land mobile and trunking bands. Ample space is still available for expansion of the antenna systems. The site is also ideally suited for microwave link bearers. A secure weatherproof hut 2.4 x 2.4 metres in size is situated at the base of the tower and is fully insulated. Standard 19" racks are currently fitted with spare floor space for future needs. Mains power is available at the site with supplementary 12 volt DC and battery back-up facilities. Land lines are also available to the site with several spare pairs. If required, qualified technical staff are available to perform maintenance and / or fault repair at any time. The security of the site is of a very high standard with personnel within minutes of the installation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A monitored security system is also fitted. Space is now available for base station or fixed link communications equipment on the site. |
