Something new: STEAM activities for the Covid-19 lockdown!
Yes, the Playwiths have been converted into a book. The Playwiths began in about 1995, and a couple of years back, I was urged to make a book of them.I did, and my friends liked what they saw, but the publishers didn't. Frightening economic times, they said. Well, I went ahead and did it in three forms:

Resources to help with science fairs and projects |
This is a companion page to my Science fair projects page. It may one day support several books on projects which are on the back burner, but these two pages stand on their own.
I have done the 2011 cleaning out the dead links (some failures are marked as failed, because they need to be checked again, on my next pass). I hope to bolster some lean areas later, but that may take some time. I write for my living, and this is a hobby. If you hit a dead link, go to the site and poke around. In fact, poke around in any case: these are just starting places to gather terms and ideas, but most pages have links off them.
For example, I have just added two new astronomy links from onlineuniversity.net, after Jen Goethals alerted me to their existence. These cover "the solar system" and "comets and meteors". While I was checking the links out for quality (A++, as it happens) I kept darting off into the other links. So never just stop at the page I suggest!
This version 33a has those two new links, and I have done a long-overdue spell-check.
The art of finding suitable references on the Web often comes down to knowing the right words to chase. For example, you may not find many hits when you search for "stone tools", but if you know to look for the phrase "flint knapping", you can find lots of pages.
The catch is that you need to be an old hand like me, in order to know the jargon.
I have used my jargon skills to find you some starter pages, but there are probably more.
When you find a page that seems useful, you should look for technical terms in that page and chase them, so you can find more pages. This is a starting place, not a finish.
I have just finished checking for currency: a page has to fail twice, at least a month apart, before I remove the link. Quite a few of them, on past experience, will work next time. If not, they will be deleted.
Please respect the limited copyright status of this page.

Worried about copyright? You need to go look at my fine print. Well, maybe you don't after you read the next three paragraphs . . .
In educational and home use, this page may be reproduced and/or pillaged and/or modified, so long as the phrase "venerable wombat" appears at some point in the text. As well, a pointer back to this page would be courteous. This page will grow until I get tired of it.
No commercial or for-profit uses are allowed without permission. I am sharing it for free — you should do no less!
Individual links cannot, by their nature, be the subject of a copyright claim, and the law of compilation copyright is dodgy at best, so I rely on you acting in good faith.
Note that the email address above will not reach me: it is a sp@m tr@p. If you add my first name in front of it, you will get through. Dumb robots that harvest email addresses can't work this out :-)
