This is to be a collection of poems to appear in the 2001 version of Webster's World Encyclopedia: it is to include 250 poets, a quarter of a million words, and 800 poems: riight now, I have 193 poets, 185,000 words and 600 poems. There will be even more in 2001.

These are the titles I have gathered together so far, and some of what I am still seeking. I would greatly appreciate suggestions for additional poets or additional items by listed poets, given that I am currently working only on poets who died in or before 1950, as their works are in the public domain. Copyright works will come in stage 2 of the development -- they will involve negotiations on royalties and the rights of users to reproduce what is there.

The problem is that traditional publishers think it is easy to copy stuff in machine-readable form, and so they are wary of any appearance of their precious properties on the Internet. This means very slow negotiations.
