1997 GL3
10th April 1997
This mpeg, made up of 141 CCD frames taken at 1 minute intervals, represents
2 hours and 20 minutes motion of the Near-Earth Asteroid 1997 GL3 which was
discovered on 8th April 1997.
This object, visible in a 25cm telescope as it passed near to
Earth, was moving at about 400 arc seconds (1/9 degree) per hour during
the period of this time-lapse sequence, significantly slower than the 1 degree
per hour it was moving as it passed just under 5 million km from Earth on
4th April, 4 days before it was discovered.
