How to write better documents

The purpose of this guide is to help you create, design and write better documents, and to provide tips and techniques to make your writing easier and more effective.

This guide is the result of:
  • a few years of practise
  • study and lecture notes from the Graduate Diploma course run by Deakin University
  • tips picked up from many of the other technical writers I've worked with over the last few years
  • advice from some of my readers and reviewers
  • the work of some of the authors I've listed in my bibliography.
Although largely concerned with the trade of technical writing, I'm sure that you'll find the tips and techniques included here to be useful for any sort of writing.
