Picture of 'Bamboo Bird' sunset Mindil beach during Festival of Darwin (Northern Territory, Australia)
The Bamboo Bird was a huge structure approx 20' high which was built on Mindil Beach for our Festival of Darwin festivities in August 1996. It was made totally of bamboo poles. As the tide came in the structure appeared to float on the water. It provided an unusual photographic opportunity. The artist was a Japanese lady called Techy Masero who was also responsible for making some of the floats in the Festival of Darwin procession and she is also well known for her murals and mosaics around Darwin.
