This site has information and mask-making activities related to the exhibition ‘The Mask of Venice: Masking, Theater, and Identity in the Art of Tiepolo and
His Time’ at the Berkeley Art Museum / Pacific Film Archive Dec. 11, 1996 - Mar. 2, 1996.
An essay ‘Masks and Meanings in Tiepolo's Venice’ by the exhibition curator James Steward, provides comprehensive background information for the
senior student, with links to images and notes that explore the role of masking in eighteenth-century Venice.
Classroom mask-making activities are also presented by Abby O'Leary as part of a teachers' workshop.
