The word 'gospel' actually means 'good news' or 'message of goodness'.

The good news is that God is a good God!

• God is love - God is good - God is infinitely good,
• You are and always have been His child,
• He loves you and has already forgiven all your sins, and
• He wants you to know and embrace the truth of this, and be in relationship with Him

You may have heard something like this before, but may have dismissed it. Christians you have come in contact with may missed the fact that God is good and portrayed God as an angry Judge wanting to punish you for your sin. They may have even threatened you with damnation, and quoted the Bible to support their views.

If this has happened to you, I am truly sorry. Unfortunately many Christians don't truly understand the true Character of their Heavenly Father. Please forgive them. They sometimes know Bible verses better than they know God, and can be like the judgemental 'older brother' in a parable Jesus told.

The parable of the Prodigal Son and the story of the woman caught in adultery contain the truth about the true character of God from the very mouth of Jesus Christ - God is only good!.

This is actually in the Bible!

If anyone wants to use the Bible to try and obscure Jesus infinitely Good News from you, and assert a God who is not only good, then perhaps this resource will be of some assistance.

Here you will find theological arguments (1 and 2) aimed at showing that many of the Character attributes attributed to God in the Old Testament, have nothing whatsoever to do with the true nature of the eternally good God. There are also links to some old texts by William Law a contemporary of John Wesley, who preached the Goodness of God.
